Miloslav Konopik is a senior assistant professor, h-index 7 (WoS), 195 citations (without autocitation, WoS), AI researcher and practitioner specializing in natural language processing. Since 2016, he serves as an academic at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia; from 2005 to 2016, he was a researcher at the department and the NTIS Research Centre, and since 2023 he is running an AI consulting practice. He coordinates and teaches the courses Advanced Natural Language Processing and Applications of Data Types (300+ students) and supervises Ph.D. candidates. His research focuses on semantic understanding of documents, language models, and multilingual coreference. He has led or co‑led numerous nationally and internationally funded projects, all successfully delivered, with results published at leading venues (EMNLP, RANLP, LNCS) and transferred into practice. He co‑authored Czert, a Czech BERT‑like language model, and the winning system for SemEval 2016 Task 2 (STS). He maintains long‑term collaborations with the Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics (ÚFAL) at Charles University, the Pattern Recognition Lab at FAU Erlangen–Nürnberg, and Ruhr‑Universität Bochum, and has conducted contract research for Owen Software, McKinsey, Circularo, and Komerční banka. He has authored 55+ publications with a strong citation record, serves on the program and organizing committees of the TSD conference, and regularly gives invited talks in the Czech Republic and abroad.
